The Tiger population in the Western Ghats declines from 981 to 824 in 4 years

Once home to most tigers in the country, the Western Ghats with 12 reserves spread across six states has seen a sharp decline in the number of big cats from 981 in 2018 to 824 as per the 2022 estimates.
